TEACHER / CHEF .....

Chef Damon runs the Heyward Career Culinary department, he is an accomplished chef and instructor . This center prepares students fo work in the culinary world.

Our client - Quackenbush Architects designed this space for the Columbia district. This special design includes all of the necessary things required for such a facility, which are considerable. All the surroundings and surfaces as well as appliances much be very specific to work as stations one would find in a restaurant .

One of the most thoughtful and appropriate things will introduce itself to you as you enter on the walkway when coming in from the walkway…… Basil and Rosemary will reach out to you as you are walking by their homes in the planter. What a joy to be greeted by their aroma. If the students need herbs they are right there and fresh !

We needed models for this session to act as students because Covid has things closed up for now. We asked a group of our friends if their High School age kids could help us out. What we didnt expect is for chef Damon to give them a real lesson in “cheffery”. He showed the students how to correctly“wear the uniform” including how to fold and wear the neck gear.

His contribution as a lesson changed the whole vibe of our session. The students/models were suddenly in character as culinary youth. We think the images show young people enjoying the process of learning one of the worlds first “arts” preparing and enjoying food. Thank you Chef Damon.
